Week 4

Rear Window is a movie that I have never heard until we watched it in class. During the first 10 minutes of the movie, I thought that I was going to be bored to death, and for the first 10 minutes of the movie I was bored to death. But as the movie went on I, surprisingly, started to get more and more into it until by the end of the movie my eyes were glued to the screen. I cant believe that such an old movie with such a slow pace could keep me interested but it did.

I think that the slow pacing of the movie actually helped it in a lot of ways, it made the climax of the movie much more exciting and suspenseful. The whole movie we are left guessing as to weather the man actually did kill his wife or was Jeff just going crazy in his apartment. I know I was switching back and forth on what I believed and didn't believe. There was times where I believed that Jeff was right but at other times it just seemed too crazy to believe that Thorwald would kill his wife like that. Overall I'm glad we watched the movie in class. It was fun and intriguing.

Week 3

The narrative form that interests me the most would have to be sound design. I believe that you can get a lot of emotion out of sounds and even the lack of sounds. This clip does a great job of showing a way to use sound design well. From the music to the crumble of the rocks to the sounds of the arrows to the fading cries of the characters you can tell exactly what emotions are going on. you are forced to more than just hear the dialogue, you are forced to feel it and be moved by it.

The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari

I never knew that watching an old movie could be so interesting until we watched The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari. At first I thought to myself that the movie would be bad and boring, but it was actually entertaining to watch. I feel like the lack of dialogue was actually a good thing, it made the movie more of a mystery and it also leaves most of the movie up to your own interpretation. Another thing that was good about the movie was the music they had in the background. It did well to set the tone and emotion of the scenes and helped bring more life to the movie. Overall I enjoyed the experience and I cant wait to see what other films we watch in class.

Week 15

My favorite screening we watching in class was Pans Labyrinth. I've never seen the movie before we watched it in class. I found th...
